Literature Text

In the end, it was Zacharie who asked the question. The one you'd been avoiding.
"What will your parents think of you bringing three men and a cat home? And looking like that..."
You winced. What WOULD they think? The batter seemed startled, as if only just remembering what a parent was. He hid his face in the shadow of his hat. you shrugged nonchalantly, pretending not to care, but deep down you were worried. What if they hate you? What if they don't love you anymore? What if? But even while those thoughts flew through your head, you were more concerned about the fact that some things seemed to be... rendered differently. Like a video game. Was the whole world brought into the game? Your answer came when you reached the top of the hill. And stepped into white space. Your house was gone, but you could see people milling around farther away. One ran towards you, but they were too far away to recognise. You were about to go look for your parents, but the Elsen clung tightly to your arm.
"It might be dangerous..."
He practically whispered. For once, he wasn't being over-worried. You could see spectres that looked like giant burnt up babies lumbering towards you too. You almost teared up at how creepy they were. Without realising it, you stepped back until you were practically pressed against Zacharie, who laughed.
"Don't be scared, (name), Just remember that the batter fights spectres all day~!"
The aforementioned batter nodded, and Zacharie turned you away.
"Let's just go back to your ... friend. Who happens to be male."
There was a hint of annoyance in the last sentence, but you nodded,  not quite catching it. Another thing you didn't quite catch was the fact that the area you were standing on at that moment was fading to white. Zacharie pushed you gently foreward, and your group began back down the hill.

The Elsen trembled slightly. But not in fear. In excitement. Something told him there would be a fight soon. Elsens aren't supposed to be excited by anything, and this Elsen knew that. He was becoming more self-aware, and changing. But he didn't know why.

Zacharie kept checking the floor behind them. Not that he cared if this world became blank. He was just concerned for his wellbeing... And yours. Something told him that keeping you safe would be the best decision he'd ever made, and he usually listened to his instincts. After all, if he didn't, he never would have met you.

The Batter strayed behind. White meant it should have been purified, and there were no guardians of this zone... He thought deeply, and briefly remembered something. His mission...
This zone was in his way.
This zone was not pure.
You were from this zone.
You must not be pure.
He tentatively lifted the bat, wondering if he could hit you. His priorities had changed in that instant. This zone must be purified. And everything in it must go. He must return to the nothingness. He must...

The Judge noticed the sudden change in atmosphere, looking up at the batter. Something seemed...
OFF.

You were unaware of the looming threat, not noticing the sudden shift of light as the white space behind you began to dim. And turn black. It was no longer 'pure'...
And you were no longer safe.
Drinking tap water tastes better straight from the tap.
